[EDWARD VIII (1894-1972, King of Great Britain, Later the Duke of Windsor), & GEORGE VI (1895-1952, King of Great Britain)]

Unsigned Snapshot Photograph, probably taken by their tutor Henry Hansell (1863-1935), showing them seated head and shoulders, full face, in their schoolroom, Prince Edward looks (unusually) highly amused, he is resting his wrists on top of an open book to support his chin, Prince Albert (George VI) is more sedate, a wall map of North America is in the background, 3½" x 3½", probably York Cottage, Sandringham, no date, circa Prince Albert's face indistinct from glare, Prince Edward's less so, his glee is still apparent, traces of laying down by blank verso

Henry Hansell accompanied Prince Edward to Magdalen, Oxford, in 1912, to oversee his progress. This snapshot must have come from an album in the Royal Household, probably Hansell's.
