[EDWARD VIII (1894-1972, King of Great Britain, Later the Duke of Windsor), GEORGE VI (1895-1952, King of Great Britain), their valet Frederick FINCH (1871-1953) and tutor Henry HANSELL (1863-1935)]

Unusual unsigned Group Portrait Photograph, by Topical Press Agency of London, showing them full length, full or nearly face, in tweeds (Finch in a suit) and caps, on the edge of a bare moorland, with two older men, 8¼" x 6¼" in contemporary framed and glazed mount 15" x 12¾", no place, dated on mount March

Henry Hansell (on the left of the photo) and Frederick Finch (next to Prince Edward at the right) became responsible for the two princes day to day from about 1901 or 1902. They both accompanied Prince Edward to Magdalen, Oxford, in 1912, and the Prince kept Finch on as his butler.
On the back of the frame is Topical's parcel post label (worn), March 1911, addressed to [...] Protheroe Smith, Grand Hotel, Newquay, crossed out and marked 'Buchanan', suggesting the photograph was taken in Cornwall.
