Charming unsigned colour Photograph, showing them on the steps leading to the garden, the King with his arm outstretched pointing her towards the right of the picture, inscribed on the back in Princess Alice's hand with the place and date, "looking at the new planned azalea bed", 3½" x 3½", Sofiero, Helsingborg, Sweden,

King Gustaf VI Adolf was a distinguished scholar and authority on Chinese art and archaeology. In 1905 he married Princess Margaret of Connaught (1882-1920) and they set about creating a wonderful garden at Sofiero, famous for its thousands of species of rhododendron, meticulously recorded.
