WILKINSON (George Howard, 1833-1907, from 1893 Bishop of St. Andrews, Dunkeld & Dunblane, Primus, 1904)

Autograph Letter Signed as Bishop of Truro, 1883-1891, to John Richardson Selwyn, (1844-1898, 2nd Bishop of Melanesia, 1877-1890), during Selwyn's visit to England when he married his second wife, Annie Catherine Mort, saying he has just "got your telegram. I hope to be home at luncheon at 1.30 & shall be delighted to see you ... I hope Mrs Selwyn will be with you" and asking "please remember me very kindly to your host & hostess", 2 sides 8vo., Vicarage, Bodmin, 10th September written on inexpensive paper, small defect in one blank corner

Wilkinson had had great success in two London parishes, with open air preaching and parochial missions, and had refused preferment several times. His connection with Truro began when he became examining chaplain to E.W. Benson, the first bishop.
