Unsigned Press Photograph, by Wide World Photos, showing them three quarter length, full or nearly full face, the Prince with an upright bearing, the Prussian Order of the Black Eagle with crown on his neck ribbon, the star on his evening jacket, the Princess smiling up towards the left in an evening gown on which also is the Black Eagle, and wearing a small tiara and neck chain with pendant, press notes (American) on verso for the Sun 'Advance Edition' with legend 'No politics for kaiser's last surviving son', 9" x 7¼", no place, 19th October closed tear in bottom right portion of the Princess's dress, a trifle creased, light reference number m red in top margin, but a fine photograph

Prince Oskar was awarded the Black Engle on his tenth birthday. The couple were married four days before WWI. He won the Iron Cross, 2nd and 1st Classes, early in the war after being wounded in command of his Regiment, the 7th Grenadiers. From 1926 he was Master of the Knights of St John for the German Bailliage, and managed to steer it through the Nazi period and WWII without its becoming an active supporter of the regime.
