Fine Ribbon in thick pale green watered silk, printed at its ends in large gold decorative letters 'Vérité' and 'Cherbourg', to commemorate receiving President Armand Fallières and carrying him on his official voyage to Denmark, Sweden, Russia and Norway, 93" (max.) x 3½", [Cherbourg], no date but 18th August

The armour-plated battle cruiser 'Vérité' (1908-1921), of the 'République' class, was laid down in 1903 at Bordeaux, was launched in 1907 and completed its trials in June 1908. Early in WWI she helped destroy the Austrian cruiser 'Zenta', and then served in the Dardanelles, the Ionian Sea and Greece.
