ESTCOURT (Thomas Henry Sutton Sotheron, 1801-1876, progressive Tory politician)

Autograph envelope front signed 'T H S B[ucknall] Estcourt' for free postage to Mrs Thomas Fardell, of Boothby Rectory near Grantham, 2½" x 4¾", Wisbech, 26th February small defect in bottom margin without loss

At this time Estcourt added 'Bucknall', the surname taken by his father. Later he used 'Sotheron', his wife's surname. He was elected M.P. for Marlborough, 1829, Devizes 1835, and North Wiltshire 1844-1865.
