[DUCHY OF CORNWALL]

Letter Signed 'M. Holtzmann' on behalf of the Duchy, to Messrs Horne & Birkett about land at Kennington Green in the Manor of Kennington, saying that "the Council of His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales" has sanctioned the sale, and requesting £5 "to be paid to the Duchy Account at the Bank of England" followed by a cheque "crossed Messrs. Coutts & Co. for £3.3.0 the fees &c. mentioned ... please inform me of the names, addresses and descriptions of the Trustees to whom the Conveyance is to be made", crest of the Duchy showing a lion couchant in front of a castle, surmounted by the Prince of Wales's coronet, 3 sides 8vo., Duchy of Cornwall Office, Buckingham Gate, S.W., 10th March two tabs of old, lightly browned, transparent paper in blank portion of heading, horizontal fold a trifle dusty

The Manor has belonged to the Duchy since its creation in 1337. The Duchy still owns the famous Oval cricket ground.
