[EDWARD VIII (1894-1972, King of Great Britain, Later the Duke of Windsor) & the Duchess of WINDSOR (Wallis Simpson, 1896-1986, his wife)]

Exceptional unsigned large press photo showing the couple together, the Duke is seated at his desk holding some papers, his head turned toward the Duchess who is perched on the arm of his chair looking down at him, 14½" x 11½", no place but Château de la Croë, Cap d'Antibes, stamped on the verso 3rd January,

The couple had bought a long lease on the Château in 1938, as well as a house in Paris. In 1952 they sold the Château to Stavros Niarchos and the Moulin de La Tuilerie near Paris took its place.
On the verso are stamps for the Associated Press and a note that it "has not been distributed to Evening Newspapers".
