INITIAL LETTER PORTRAIT OF GEORGE II GEORGE II (1683-1760, King of Great Britain)

Engraved Portrait Bust at the head of an Indenture between Richard TREVOR, (1707-1771, from 1752 Bishop of Durham), with his signature 'R. Duresme', and Thomas Leighton, Clerk (Clergyman), for one half of a dwelling and its appurtenances in Little Thorpe, Easington parish, the lease specifically reserves to the Bishop all woodland and mining rights, with wayleave for his wagons to exploit them, the Bishop making good at a reasonable rate any resulting damage to the property or land, 20½" x 24¼", folding to 6" x 8¼", no place, 4th March in crisp condition

Thomas Leighton had obtained a half interest in a lease of 1750 by the previous Bishop of Durham to Thomasin Paxton, which he now surrenders and takes the present one for the lives of Thomasin Paxton, "aged now about sixty six years", the Revd. William Paxton, (33, fellow of Queens' College, Cambridge) and Leighton's wife Elizabeth (37).
