Unsigned Press Photograph by the New York Times S.A. of Paris,
showing her standing half length, her face in fine profile, wearing a pale (blue) coat and straw hat, taking the salute at the march past of the 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th Battalions, the King's Own Scottish Borderers, following her inspection as Colonel-in-Chief, which took place in King's Park "in a terrific downpour" during which "she refused an umbrella", 7½" x 9½", The Mound, Edinburgh, 28th July
The review was the culmination of celebrating the 250 years of the regiment since 1689, when 1000 men were recruited in Edinburgh in 4 hours. Among those here with the Duchess are Lord Provost Steele, in plumed hat, and Major-General Sir Edward Broadbent, Colonel. See The Times for 29th July 1939.
