THE ROYAL YACHT AND THE MONTREAL OLYMPICS [ELIZABETH II (1926-2022, Longest Serving Monarch of Great Britain)]

Group of 18 Unsigned Photographs associated with the Queen’s voyage in the Royal Yacht ‘Britannia’ to open the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal (Saturday 17th July), beginning with Boston (11th July) and up to Halifax (13th July), where Prime Minister Trudeau welcomed the Queen to Canada, including views of Britannia and of the stadiums, most photos stamped on verso ‘Royal Naval Official Photograph’, each 4¾” x 6½”, no places, no dates but Boston and Canada, July

1. A fine cake decorated with a model of ‘Britannia’ and ‘Welcome to Boston, Queen Elizabeth - Prince Philip’. (The welcome in dock centred on the USS Constitution, ‘Old Ironsides’, which was decorated overall for the occasion).
2. The prow of Britannia negotiating a lock and making for a landing stage on the right, taken from high on Britannia..
3. Closer view of the landing stage with the US flag and band, crowds lined up behind.
4. The Queen arriving off Britannia, seen broadside in the background, Mr Trudeau and Prince Philip on the left.
5. The Queen inspecting a guard of honour.

7. Prince Charles and Prince Andrew going up Britannia’s gangway, Prince Edward following with Mr Trudeau, This was Prince Edward’s first official engagement abroad. Princess Anne was, of course, competing.
