VICTORIA ALEXANDRA (1868-1935, Princess, Daughter of Edward VII & Alexandra)

Early Autograph Letter Signed "Tora" to "My dear Jonnie", thanking her "for writting me such a nice letter ... Eddy and Georgie" (her brothers Albert Victor and George V), "are staying with us now, but they are going away so soon now", they were serving on HMS Bacchante, 1879-1882, visiting many British colonies, "but they are coming to London first so you will see them ... I am very glad that you stayed with Ellen for a few days because then you are not alone", with sympathy for "one of the poor little kittens ... it must have died of cold I suppose in the doves house where we saw them", she is "very glad that you go out a great deal because you can never get out in London. Walkley & Marie" send their love in return, she describes how "last night a man named Vance came on board here & sang and acted", and how they were not allowed to stay up though "lots of children came and they were all younger than us", ending "Good bye ... I remain Yours loving little Tora", fine crest from the Royal Yacht Osborne in blue and gold with Prince of Wales's feathers at the head, 3 sides 8vo., Royal Yacht Osborne, 7th September

Mrs Elizabeth Jones ('Jonnie', d. 13th May 1881), was for 14 years the much-loved nanny to the Prince & Princess of Wales's children. Mrs Walkley was also in their Household as a nurse.
