BROGLIE (Princess Estelle, b. circa 1881, née Alexander, American-born 2nd wife, 1906, of Prince Robert, 1880-1956, son of Count Amédée de Broglie, 1849-1917)

Portrait Postcard Photograph published by J. Löwy, Vienna, signed in her large bold hand across the corner of the image, showing her full length, three quarter face, her left hand holding the edge of a cloak, magnificently embroidered to match the skirt of her wasp-waisted dress, and with an ostrich feather in her hair, titled below in French, 5½" x 3½", no place, no date, circa

The Princess was previously married, about 1897, to the American Sidney B. Veit, millinery importer, based in Paris. When she and Robert were disowned by Robert's father, they supported themselves from day to day, singing in New York, London and Paris, with Robert sometimes conducting the orchestra. They re-married in Paris in December 1907, to satisfy French law, but in 1909 she obtained a divorce there on the grounds of Robert's desertion.
