Letter Signed to Mrs MELLISS, wife of Colonel Howard MELLISS, (1847-1921, K.C.S.I., 1897), Inspector General of Imperial Service troops in India, saying he will "be delighted to come to you on Monday evening at 9.30", crowned monogram in blue, 1 side card 5¾" x 2½" and conjugate blank, Kapurthala, Punjab, 2nd July light remnants of old transparent tab at top edge, barely touching top of coat-of-arms (perfectly legible)

Jagatjit Singh was a great traveller and Francophile - his palace was modelled on Versailles. He served as the representative of India at the League of Nations in 1926, 1927 and 1929.
