William George Clark
had been under Benjamin Hall Kennedy at Shrewsbury and in 1850 helped edit, and contributed to, the delightful Latin and Greek versions in
Sabrinae Corolla,
('The Chaplet of the River Severn'). An acute scholar and a man of great charm, he also edited the
Cambridge Shakespeare
in 9 volumes, the best critical edition of the text for many years, and the 1-volume
Globe Shakespeare
