Signature from the end of a typed letter as 'Sub-editor', 2½" x 4", no place, date and 'M.A.P.' (the penny weekly Mainly About People) added in pencil, 14th March neatly trimmed parallel to the signature

Mainly About People was launched in 1898 by T.P. O'Connor (1848-1929, the Irish nationalist M.P.). O'Connor was an unending fund of anecdotes and observer of character, whether in the Commons or at large.
At one time Bampton Hunt was French drama correspondent in Paris for the London Playgoer. In 1906 he edited the first appearance of the annual Green-Room Book; or Who's Who on the Stage, later called Who's Who in the Theatre, which ran till 1981.
