On Sunday nights, after the 9 o'clock news, Priestley had just started broadcasting the 'Postscript', which ran till the following October.
Flying Officer J.E.S. MacAlister (1912-1940) had just died in action. See The Times for 17th, 18th and 24th June 1940.
