THE NATIONAL THEATRE APPEAL, 1937 [GEORGE VI (1895-1952, King of Great Britain) &  ELIZABETH  (1900-2002, his Queen)]

Four Tickets (right hand halves) and Four Police Passes (left hand halves) to view their Coronation Procession, at Messrs Kerka's (the Ladies' Hairdressers) at 353 Oxford Street, with an interesting Typed Letter with the printed block signature of Harvey Lloyd, organizer, the National Theatre Appeal, to Carleton HOBBS (1898-1978, for fifty years the radio and television broadcaster), acknowledging his cheque for £12, and with the envelope, bearing Hobbs' note in red crayon "Very Important ...", the letter 1 side folio, 50 Pall Mall, 30th April 1937, for 12th May

One of many fund-raising efforts that culminated in the opening of the building on the South Bank in 1976. Here, the 'Executive Committee' includes all the most famous names in the British theatre, very many going back to the start of the appeal in 1906.
