[HUNTER (Sir John, 1751-1816, appointed Consul in San Lúcar and Seville, March 1783, from 1813 Knight and Consul-General in Spain)]

Letter Signed 'John Hunter and Co' to Mr Francis Peyronnant, 'on Board the Ship Queen of France', in a clerk's hand with transcription, saying that "In addition to your letter of this date, we have seen Mr. P.S. Diaz and he has agreed to pay the additional price for the Rice wherefore we inclose account [not present] c/p and Balance in your favour Reales 119.14", making a balance of Reales 109.14 in "your account Current ... which we have Requested Mr Jas Duff to pay you o/a which closes our transaction for the present", 1 side 4to and direction on conjugate leaf, Sanlúcar de Barrameda, (at the mouth of the Guadalquivir, 15 miles north of Cadiz), 13th September light mark obscuring letter 'J' of signature

Consul John Hunter is also found subscribing to the 3rd edition, 1787, of Burns's Poems., 2 copies. From San Lúcar he filled a valued role in peace time arranging supplies for the Navy.
