SOPHIA (1777-1848, Princess, Daughter of George III)

Autograph Letter in the third person to Richard COLLINS (1755-1831, Miniature Painter to the Royal Family of George III), at 37 Somerset Street, Portman Square, in her small neat hand, sending "a Draft on Messrs Drummonds for the amount of Mr Collins' Bill which she hopes he will find correct, and that he will send a Stamp'd Receipt for the same as soon as convenient", apologizing that "there should have been any delay in the payment of the above Charges, but she had mislaid the original papers sent by Mr Collins", and stating the amount as £40 3s 6d, 1 side 16mo, address on conjugate leaf, K[ensington] P[alace], 17th November no year, circa tiny closed hole in address leaf, narrow remains of tab along one blank edge of conjugate leaf, else good

Somerset Street lay one street north of Oxford Street, between Orchard Street and Duke Street. It is now built over by Selfridge's.
