HIRZEL (Max, 1888-1957, Swiss Operatic Tenor)

Fine Large Portrait Photograph, by Docci, signed, inscribed to Sir Thomas Beecham and dated across the lower part of the image in German "with sincere admiration and respect, Swiss 'Lohengrin' Max Hirzel", also signed by the photographer in pencil on the mount, showing him standing, three quarter length, three quarter face to the viewer's left, with a heroic longing in his eyes, in magnificent helmet and cloak over chain mail, his sword in his right hand, shield in his left, 12" x 9¼" on card mount 17¼" x 12½", [London],

Sir Thomas conducted Lohengrin at Covent Garden, 29th April - 18th May 1935.
