Autograph Letter Signed to Lord Mayor Treloar, saying how disappointed he is to have to decline the invitation "to Dine at the Mansion House, & to meet there the 'Old Boys of K[ing's] C[ollege] S[chool]" owing to attacks of jaundice, he thinks he would have been "the oldest member there - for I was at the School from 1842 to 1844 ... And at any rate a man in his 80th year cannot meet many schoolfellows", but wishing "your Banquet a great success", 3 sides 8vo, The Deanery, Durham, 12th April

Autograph Letter Signed to Mr Walbran, saying "Dr. Peter Shaw" or rather the book by him, probably his translation of Sir Francis Bacon's Works, 1733, "arrived quite safely yesterday evening ... There seem to be many things ... which will prove of use to me ... only I feel a certain amount of shame at having ... done you out of it!", he has a copy of Bacon's Novum Organum which he can send to him at Cambridge or go northwards with "Smith ... at Mids[ummer]", he has better news of Collyer, "Dr. Seymour thinks the warm weather together with absolute rest from work, will soon tell", and hoping Wallbran will "repeat the visit some day", 4 sides 8vo, Twyford, Winchester, 17th May

Fine bold signature on fragment of a manorial record, in Latin with transcription, examined by Knightbridge as "senescallus" (steward), vellum, 2 sides 3½" x 7¾", no place, one entry is dated March of 27 Charles II, trimmed on three sides, inner margin with stitch holes discoloured with some loss of text
