KITCHIN (George William, 1827-1912, Dean of Winchester 1883-1894, from 1894 Dean of Durham)

Autograph Letter Signed to Mr Walbran, saying "Dr. Peter Shaw" or rather the book by him, probably his translation of Sir Francis Bacon's Works, 1733, "arrived quite safely yesterday evening ... There seem to be many things ... which will prove of use to me ... only I feel a certain amount of shame at having ... done you out of it!", he has a copy of Bacon's Novum Organum which he can send to him at Cambridge or go northwards with "Smith ... at Mids[ummer]", he has better news of Collyer, "Dr. Seymour thinks the warm weather together with absolute rest from work, will soon tell", and hoping Wallbran will "repeat the visit some day", 4 sides 8vo, Twyford, Winchester, 17th May
