addressed to Antonio PINTO CHICHÔRRO DA GAMA, (1800-1887, Appeal Judge, Minister of the Supreme Court of Justice, 1860-1875) saying "By order of the Interim Regent, in the Name of the Emperor, I am sending to Your Excellency the enclosed copy of the Decree of the 19th instant, which revoked the Imperial Charter of 15th September last appointing Your Excellency to the Post of President of the Province of Rio de Janeiro; and so, the antecedent appointment of Paulino Jozé Soares de Sousa to the Post mentioned remains in force", 1 side 11¼" x 8¾" and conjugate leaf, which bears a pencil note "Presidency of Rio de Janeiro. margins a little frayed touching one letter at head without loss, small ink stain at head of fold, main leaf has two light vertical creases but is perfectly legible, last four letters of signature in outline owing to original heavy inking
