saying that the new Duke of Modena, Francesco IV, 1779-1846, is "to grant ... to those of his Subjects being Active Officers, who have had, by the reform and dissolution of [Napoleon's] Army of Italy, to return to these States without any Salary", a Pension of 46.05 Italian Lire per month, until they accept other employment, and, as an inducement to take employment with the State, "you may still expect to receive from the Sovereign Grace a gratuity of 4 Months of the said Pension", the payee must produce "the Original Patent authenticating your last rank" and other documents, H.R.H. will expect in return "unequivocal proof of your loyalty, morality, and perfect obedience as a subject", 1 side folio, address on conjugate leaf, Military Head Quarters, Modena, 30th September
