HALE
(Kathleen, b. 1898, Artist, Illustrator and Author of books for children, creator of 'Orlando the Marmalade Cat')
Fine Autograph Letter signed to 'Dear Catherine'
(Dupré, 1926-2014, Artist and Author), saying that she had "hoped for your quick & easy condemnation of what was boring in my ms. Nothing more. I wouldn't have thought of asking you to do this, had you not asked to see the mss & that you didn't want me to have it 'ghosted' as that might mean a destruction of what is there of my personality ... I do hope your life is not going to be too exhausting - it sounds a bit devastating to me. I've been ill since you & Elizabeth came and had to go to 'bed with the doctor', but am up now. However, I've had to tell several friends who were due to visit me to wait ... I reckon I should be back in circulation in about 2 or 3 weeks without a doubt ... I've managed to get 'Galsworthy' from our Travelling Library! I'm in the middle of Rushdie's 'Midnight Children' which is thick to read, & will take up quite a slice of my life before I can read Gals, for Rushdie is on the urgency list. A wonderful book. ...", 2 sides 8vo., Tod House, Oxford, 20th January
