WILLEM I FREDERIK
(1772-1848, Sovereign Prince of Orange and King of the Netherlands 1813-1840)
Fine letter signed to "Most Honoured Brother"
telling him that he has "deemed it meet to recall Sir Jaques Boreel to undertake other duties; until now he has had the privilege of residing at Your Majesty's Court as my Special Envoy and Minister Plenipotentiary. He would, of course, have made a point of taking official leave of Your Majesty ... if he had not received the order to return to my Kingdom before knowing what I intended for him, and was thus prevented from personally discharging his final duties as Minister ... I should like to use this opportunity to reiterate the interest I take in Your Majesty's prosperity ...", 1 side folio, Loo Castle, 28th August
