FRANCIS II
(1768-1835, last Holy Roman Emperor, Francis I of Austria)
Finely penned Document signed, in French with translation, with autograph salutation, to his "dear Brother and dear Brother-in-law"
saying that he is taking "advantage of the moment of departure of Prince Leopold to recommend to the truly paternal kindness of which Your Majesty has already given so much proof, the definitive arrangement of his pecuniary affairs. The future of the Prince, as of his Bride and his daughter, must essentially depend on this arrangement, and certainly it can not be placed in better hands than between those of a brother like your Majesty. I have charged the Prince Leopold to explain to your Majesty the reasons which have compelled me to desire that He should still leave His Bride near Me. By consenting, the Prince has given me another proof of his constant desire to please me. The arrival of Prince Leopold will roughly coincide with that of the Earl of Lebzeltern. Both will be able to furnish your Majesty with proof of the constant interest, and I will say more, of the real solicitude that, at all times and especially in a time full of calamities as it is now, I am interested in the happiness of your Majesty and that of his family ..."
