Finely penned document, in German with translation,
addressed to Dr. Barrenechea, (José Antonio, 1829-1889, Foreign Minister of Peru), from the Prussian Foreign Minister (Count Bismarck) and signed on his behalf, enclosing the King's reply [not present] to the letter from Col. José Balta, (1816-1872, from 1868 President of Peru), announcing his election as President, and assuring Dr Barrenechea of his most distinct repect, at the top and bottom are two contemporary notes in Spanish, the first explains the content of the document, the second orders its official publication, 1 side folio and conjugate blank, Berlin, 20th October
small ribbon slits in blank inner margin, contemporary note in Spanish at top overlaps the text, touching a few letters

to the President of Peru, (Mariano Ignacio Prado, 1826-1902, Dictator, 1865-1867, President 1867-1868 & 1876-1879), thanking him for his letter "of the 5th August last year that by the free choice of Your fellow citizens ... You were appointed President ... and assumed this honourable Office on the 2nd of the same month", reciprocating the President's assurance "that You will strive to cultivate and ever improve the good relations existing between Germany and the Republic of Peru", and offering his "congratulations on Your elevation", signed also by Bernhard Ernst von Bülow (1815-1879, the Danish and German Statesman, plenipotentiary at the Congress of Berlin) as Deputy Foreign Minister, 1 side folio, lithographed heading with MS additions and conjugate blank, Berlin, 10th April

Splendid Souvenir Folding Card 'Dem Deutsche Kaiserreiche'
('To the German Empire'), in full colour, in German with transcriptions and translations, the centre showing Wilhelm I in his new regalia, holding his sword upwards, while pointing to a document on the table by him, (we presume, the Proclamation of the Empire at Versailles), the side panels, with romantic landscapes, read "Vom Fels" ('From Mountain') and "Zum Meer" ('To Sea'), while on the outside, the left panel bears a trophy, the right a quotation from Wilhelm I of July 1870, 11 days after France had declared war, that "Germany... may rest assured that strife brings her tranquillity and that out of the bloody sowing will spring a harvest, blessed by God, of German freedom and unity", all on a lacy paper frame topped by a gilt German eagle, 5¼" (max.) x 3¼" unfolding to 5¼" x 7", no place, no date, circa
