showing him half length, three quarter face, poring over a document by candlelight, a quill pen in his right hand, his lined face full of character, a most unusual study of his face, 6½" x 6½" in a window mount, with to the left in a second window a little sketch in black pen of a woman in a sun hat seen from behind and walking her dog, 4" x 2¾", 8" x 13" overall, no place, the sketch signed and dated
