Autograph Letter Signed to Mrs Jeune, (Mary Elizabeth, 1849-1931, née Stewart-Mackenzie, wife, 1881, of Judge Francis Henry Jeune, 1843-1905, knighted 1891, 1st Baron St. Helier, 1905), saying "Gladly would I have acceded to your request but ... that very afternoon I am due at Lady Wolverton's to help arrange the stalls and make the final arrangements for a Fête I am organising at Coombe for which Lady Wolverton most kindly lends her charming house and grounds ... more particularly ... to enable us to board out all through the summer and autumn, a succession of very poor worn South London seamstresses &c. for whom the inestimable boon of at least a fortnight's rest, country air and food is, thus secured", and wondering if "you and your kind sister might come down one of the days ?" and perhaps "send me a contribution of flowers for my flower stall ... Autograph letter signed to Canon Edgar Sheppard, 1845-1921, sub-dean of the Chapels Royal, about the arrangements for the confirmation on Thursday 24th March by the Bishop of St Albans of her second son Prince Francis, (1870-1910, Major in the 1st Dragoons, served in the Sudan and South Africa), suggesting 1 o'clock, "please write me a line at St. James' which will be called for later in the day", she hopes "you quite saw my difficulty as regards the May Bazaar, scarcely a week passes without my declining one or more applications", she cannot do "a second day unless for a National object or one I am immediately connected with", 4 sides 6" x 4", no place, 1st March tiny hole in blank portion
