Background
Charpentier was 'the composer of Montmartre' and dressed the part with an artist's wide brimmed hat and cloak. He eschewed chamber music in favour of large, out-door pieces. Chincholle was at one time secretary to Alexandre Dumas père and contributed to his papers Le Mousquetaire and D'Artagnan.
